Smart Tweezers LCR- and ESR-meter

Simple to use LCR and ESR measurements with high accuracy

Smart Tweezers are the original handheld tweezer-probe multimeters. This device revolutionalized testing SMDs with its one-handed tweezer probe operation. The unique device combines a tweezers and a powerful multimeter that identifies and evaluates Surface Mount Devices and can troubleshoot complex electronic systems. The device requires no set-up between measurements, and is lightweight to not cause hand-fatigue.

Testing Surface Mount Devices

Small components and their values can be hard to keep track of. Due to their size, they may be unlabeled or lack other distinctions from one component to the next, such as wire leads. Surface Mount Devices are mounted directly onto PCBs, and these PCBs can be crowded, making it even more difficult to tell the components apart. This may lead to lost component values or confusion betwen comonents.

Smart Tweezers makes identifying and troubleshooting these components simple. The Swiss-made, gold-plated tweezer probes are able to grasp components to a 0201 size, either mounted or loose. The multimeter is also able to test components with leads that would normally be short to fit in test terminals.

Navigation

Smart Tweezers are controlled using a 4-way joystick-like navigational button. The joystick allows users to switch basic measurement parameters, such as the mode or test frequency, without leaving the main screen. Press down on the button to enter the extensive menus where users can set specific parameters for their tasks.

Other Features

  • Smart Tweezers LCR meter test various component types, including secondary components for Dissipation Factor (D), Quality Factor (Q) as well as other functions that result in a more detailed component analysis.
  • The built-in Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) mode helps better understand the inherent resistance, a behavior typically found in capacitors across selected frequencies.
  • A Diode mode allows Smart Tweezers to test diode polarity and indicates if it is short.
  • A Continuity detector sounds a beeper for resistance that reads below the set thresholds. This function also allows users to easily seek out a shorted conductor within a circuit.
  • Manual modes allows the user to test for specific parameters such as L, C, R, Z or ESR. this more also improves component type identification for in-circuit testing.
  • Variable test signal output from 0.25 to 1.0 Vrms allow test precision for different situations, such as in-circuit evaluations and loose leaded ceramic capacitors.
  • Visible and audible tolerance modes for performing component sorting.
  • A Math Null function allows users to store pre-measured offsets and improve measurement accuracy.
