For more stable readings, a 1.0 Vrms test signal is recommended for LCR-Reader-MPA/MPB. For in-circuit measurements, the Auto signal level setting is preferable and optimized for measuring resistors, capacitors, and inductors directly on a PCB.
A high test signal may forward-bias p-n junctions in nearby semiconductor components, causing measurement errors. To minimize this effect, the device automatically reduces the test signal to 0.1 V peak-to-peak and repeats the measurement. When this occurs, the screen displays a diode symbol and the detected p-n junction direction, as shown below.
